well..
in this age of 'do-anything-for-myself-&-nothing- for anyone' people, i saw an act of kindness and mercy in the last one week that made me feel there was some love left in the heart of mankind...read on....

From the window in my kitchen, i can see a few trees and the ocean behind it....i wake up every morning to stand by the window and get my dose of the morning freshness.One day i noticed a nest on one of the branches,a crows nest. Days passed and i cudnt but notice the nest everyday, as i saw enough activity in and around it. I saw the mommy or the daddy crow feeding the young ones, the li'l ones begging for food with their pink beaks...it was quite a sight....until one morning, as i was about to leave for work, i walked to shut the windows, when i saw a few men up the tree cutting branches. And i knew that the axe would soon be on the branch where my friends stayed.

I saw the mother-crow and her now almost ready to fly little ones jumping around, in the fear that their house was getting scuttled. It was all a momentary glance for me, as i shut the window and was on my way to work. On my way to work what i saw came back to my head...multiple questions arose in my head...where would the little ones go? can the mother lead them to safety? will the mother fight the cats in the neighbourhood? will she build a new nest? why didnt i stop the men?

The questions became dark clouds of worry ...worry became paranoia....i left work early that day....and rushed home....

I ran upstairs, opened the windows....and behold, the tree had been completely shaved off its branches, except for one solitary high branch...the branch with the nest...i breathed a sigh of relief when i saw the entire family was hale & healthy...phew!..i breathed relief and overjoyed...

There still is some love and kindness in humans...the kindness that was all pervasive, kindness towards a crow...kindness without looking for any returns. Thank you, Mr. Kind Tree Chopper
